Foam Core, Cover Materials, and Washability
All ball pits in this collection use an anti-allergic polyurethane foam core, structured enough to hold its shape under daily use, padded enough to cushion the inevitable falls. The outer cover zips off and is machine washable at 30°C. Cover fabric choice is where the range diverges: Boucle offers a looped premium texture; Cotton gives a clean, matte finish across a wide colour palette; Velvet is softer to the touch with a slight sheen; Corduroy has a ridged texture with a more tactile feel. All covers are CE-certified and use balls where included.
Round vs Square, and Choosing Wall Height
Round ball pits at 90cm diameter suit most room layouts and are the most common format. The square format, available in Cotton, suits rooms where a round pit does not fit neatly, such as beside a sofa, in a corner, or in a smaller nursery. Wall height choices (30cm and 40cm) suit different developmental stages: 30cm for younger babies sitting independently, 40cm for babies beginning to pull to standing or who need a bit more containment. Most parents buying for a first-time crawler start with 30cm; those buying ahead start with 40cm.
Balls: What Is Included and What to Know
Cotton and velvet ball pits include balls at checkout with a colour choice. Boucle ball pits are supplied without balls; a separate add-on is available at purchase. All balls used with this collection should be CE-certified 7cm balls: large enough to present no choking risk, small enough to be graspable and engaging for babies in the sensory-play stage. Ball pit play should always be supervised for babies under 12 months. The foam walls are padded and non-rigid, so the pit is forgiving during the sitting-upright stage when babies topple sideways regularly.
