There are products that children move to without being directed and products that stay in the corner until someone trips over them. Wigiwama's children's beanbag chair belongs firmly to the first category. The shape provides enough back support to encourage a relaxed upright position, which makes it practical for reading or a longer stretch of screen time, without being stiff or furniture-like in the way a conventional chair tends to be.
Three fabric options cover the range. Corduroy is structured and textured with a natural warmth to it. Teddy has a softer, more tactile surface that suits children who like to curl into their furniture. Terrazzo, available in Marble, Moss and Sand, is a woven blend of boucle and chenille carrying both OEKO-TEX and GRS certification; the covers wash by hand or on a hand-wash machine cycle with similar colours, then hang to dry. All three outer fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified, and the inner shell meets Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX, which sets a clear standard for materials in regular contact with children's skin. The filling is expanded polystyrene beads throughout, providing the characteristic give-and-support quality of a well-made beanbag without the flatness that cheaper alternatives tend towards.
At 70cm wide and 42cm high, it is proportioned for children aged three and upwards, with enough surface area to accommodate most positions children find comfortable. The zip-fastened outer cover removes for machine washing at 30°C on a synthetic cycle, making it a practical choice for busy households. Light enough to carry from room to room, it settles into bedrooms and playrooms with equal ease.
